petite precise pictures on matches

from the land of the tiny hands, aka japan, i give you this amazing, precise matchbook art.
i don’t think this is what people have in mind when they refer to l.s. lowry’s paintings of matchstick men.
i love the soft rounded edges in the images, and am in awe of how a mundane, everyday item can be transformed into something so fun!
at q-blick for 189 yen each, or $1.55 us.

chickens are my favorite.
i think they’re having a conversation and saying “hey, what’s goin on. nothing doin’, just hangin’ out. how ’bout you? not much. i did see bill go up in flames yesterday. he’s such a hot head.”
…or something like that.
