vauni ethanol fireplace

there are all kinds of freestanding fireplaces floating around the blogosphere, but i especially like this rotund one designed by markus grip for swedish maker vauni. it’s about 24″h x 24″w x 24″d and uses clean burning ethanol. it swivels too, so you can have a lovely view of it from anywhere in the room. just fill the tank up, use the integrated control to adjust the flame levels to your taste and enjoy a cozy, ash and soot-free evening.
it reminds me of the smooth orbs of planets revolving around each other on a mobile a saw once as a child.
sadly, the globe is not in my budget: it costs over six grand. but isn’t it fabulous?
if i had the dough, i’d purchase a pair at personal interior design and float ’em on my yacht.

These are really fun! I totally see the planet reference. Maybe because they are sort of set back on their axis. Yeah…two on your yacht would be awesome. Especially anchored in a harbor in Hawaii. Oh, but then you wouldn’t need the fireplaces…hmmm…not sure how to reconcile that. 😉
