if you like hefty but minimal looking beds, i am sure you will enjoy the many styles from germany’s zack design. they’re made of high quality beech, walnut or cherry wood, and many of the styles have thoughtful details like attached lights or side tables.

i appreciate the flush and rounded corners on these styles, because no one wants to crack their knee on a corner if they have to get up in the middle of the night.

are you like most people who have a small, spacey, swinging kitty with discriminating tastes that always manages to take up a quarter of your king size bed and ruin your sleep while doing it? oh wait - maybe that’s just me. i do believe the cat capsule from french designer christian ghion may be the answer to my cat prayers. it’s quite compact and has an uber stylish mid century modern sensibility.

if this thing swivels, i just might have to figure out where to buy it, even if it is better looking than my own furniture!

(i’m not complaining but) this bed has been all over cyberspace now — and i’m writing about it anyway, because it is too cool. behold the scoop bed from by guido rosati for saba italia. it’s a bed and a sofa, a very handy design if living in smallish dwellings where space is limited. they make a delicious square version too, if you must be linear.

it’s too bad we don’t have availability in the states, because that square one looks like a big fluffy sleepy swimming pool to me. that i would like to go swimming in.
i must say that i haven’t seen anything this swinging since larry gordon’s photo of hef’s bed (not that i’ve seen it in person!).

i am visualizing a room at the regent in fiji (which apparently is now the westin denerau) with this bed in it. how apropos that it is named the aitutaki (well, i was pretty close).
made from natural chunky bamboo, a more private sleeping experience can be had with a tug of the breezy curtains hung from the top.
but for those unfortunate bed linens, it looks like a raft you would lazily float down a river on in a dream.
