look at this set of minibooks from the folks from london-based tank magazine, simply called tankbooks. they were inspired in part by iconic packaging of cigarettes - classic literature in classic packaging as they say. authors include tolstoy, kipling and hemingway.

smoke read ‘em if ya got ‘em.
purchase the set for 45 euros at colette.

pssst - would you like a wonderful way to surround yourself with beautifully designed furniture everyday from famous designers like mies van der rohe and charles eames, for a really good price? then check out these delightfully fresh iconic furniture prints from kansas city artist matt mills.

i love the idea of buying a set of four and putting them in an office to gaze at from the computer everyday. and i love that i could be really really close to that marshmallow sofa without having to pony up the three grand to purchase one!
matt’s thoughtfully minimal color palettes, like the actual furniture he features, enable the viewer to enjoy the lines of each modern piece, and print, without distraction.
find these prints and much more at thumbtack press.

look at this marvelous piece of art. this pixelated rendition of the mona lisa is one of four classic paintings that are currently on exhibit through october 16 at takashimaya in osaka. the reproductions are made from 320,000 used tickets from the local nankai namba train station. nearly 300 employees worked for three months on their breaks and free time to create these amazing works.

if you are not familiar with takashimaya, it is a serenely fabulous (the tea room!) japanese department store, found internationally and on 5th avenue between 54th and 55th in manhattan.

someday, when i am fabulously wealthy and have a house on mykonos, anguilla, maui, or my own private hayman, i will decorate it with loads of barlow tyrie outdoor furniture.

they use high-quality materials, like teak, aluminum and stainless steel.

i love their classic and their contemporary designs.

for now, though, my costco furniture will do.
