hah! i enjoy my designy (window) shopping posts so get ready for a few fun ones. look here at the reproduction rear end of michelangelo’s david, made new again by ramón ubeda and otto canalda, of spain’s abr. this fresh fanny is made of polypropelene and unlike the stone original is apparently quite lightweight.

you can purchase the stool in berlin at bcn. the red version is a special edition and you can find it over at the conran shop.
see more designs by the witty duo at abr.

it’s been a dog’s age since i wrote an architecture post. i actually think the articles i have written have been pretty popular, but lately i’ve been swept away by other interests and you can see how and which way the wind blows if you come here regularly. i’m actually pledging to myself to write on this topic with a bit more frequency, but it would help me to know if you guys like the subject, so please drop me a comment or send me an email and let me know!
anyway, on with the show. look here at this curvy house designed by mexican architect javier senosiain. it was designed in the shape of a serpent to pay tribute to aztec deity quetzalcoatl. the home sits on a 12+ acre site and was particularly challenging to build due to the requirement that no trees were to be removed for construction.

see the rest of this home and many more examples of daring architecture on javier’s website. he’s also written a book about the elements and philosophy of organic design.

i love the soft square shapes of this dedalo wood shelving unit from italy’s porada design company. besides being a cool place to display your favorite pieces, this versatile shelf can be used as a room divider.

i’d love to see two of these next to each other, separating a living/dining room combination.
see this and more beautiful things on their website.

ack! i’m nutty coconutty about this sleek round (well, the company calls it round) table by luciano bertoncini for italy’s bellato. it looks more like a wedge to me. revel in its curvy lines and the way it stores your stuff. three compartments open 360°, so all your remotes, mail, magazines and whatever else you have cluttering up your family room can now be hidden away.

bonus: this sleek piece of furniture is on wheels for added convenience!
i love intelligently designed furniture that can multitask — it’s almost like having an intimate, interactive relationship with what is in your home instead of simply occupying/admiring/dusting it all.
it’s offered in wenge or a black and white finishes, and dimensions are cm 59.5 x 59.5 x 37, or about 24″ x 24″ x 15″.
check out bellato’s website for more info.
