intriguing bonuses: 1) proceeds from the sock it to me line go toward the purchase of socks for their local homeless shelters; and 2) seraph does custom invitation work too, for that fabulous party or shower or wedding you might be planning.

laura goldstein’s hand dyed pillows (luxury)

these silk charmeuse pillows from designer laura goldstein for grotta and company are so luxe i might have a hard time putting my head on them. but i would give it the good old college try. i love the hand dyed patterns on these pieces, inspired by travels and ephemera from around the world, and the fact that she uses different and complimentary fabrics on the reverse sides — it’s like getting two pillows for the price of one.

i like this luxe glider chair and ottoman from california designer jennifer delonge. it’s offered in linen or velvet and is clean, tailored and elegant. jennifer’s intention for this piece and the others in her line was to make the baby’s room as stylish as all the other rooms in today’s modern homes, but with style like this why limit yourself? i’d be thrilled to have this in my family room or library any day of the week!

msao typography prints

seattle artists marianne sao and deborah crump worked in the graphic design and marketing industries separately for quite some time before they decided to combine their skills and creative vision. they’ve recently released their limited edition black and white griffonage series of 11″ x 17″ prints, which showcase manipulated typography and tiny thoughtful quotations. the elegant results land somewhere between graffiti and calligraphy, and are charming, bold and engaging.

griffonage means a type of illegible scrawl, but the message looks very clear to me.

so does the talent.

takumi dinner bells

i’ve been leaving on my things
so in the morning when the morning bird sings
there’s still dinner on my dinner jacket
til the dinner bell rings

i don’t want a pizza, i don’t want a piece of peanut brittle, i don’t want a pear.
i don’t want a bagel, i don’t want a bean, i wouldn’t like a bag of beef or a beer. or a cup of chowder, corn, cake, or creamed cauliflower cause i’m waiting for the dinner bell to do the bell thing,

dinner bell dinner bell ding ding ding

{lyrics from the ebullient, beloved and oh-so-clever they might be giants}

it sure beats a triangle any day, doesn’t it?

$325 for the marvelous set at moss. –>

recycled train ticket art masterpieces

look at this marvelous piece of art. this pixelated rendition of the mona lisa is one of four classic paintings that are currently on exhibit through october 16 at takashimaya in osaka. the reproductions are made from 320,000 used tickets from the local nankai namba train station. nearly 300 employees worked for three months on their breaks and free time to create these amazing works.

takashimaya_mona_lisa

if you are not familiar with takashimaya, it is a serenely fabulous (the tea room!) japanese department store, found internationally and on 5th avenue between 54th and 55th in manhattan.

laguna luxury wood tub is truly a boat

from the mixed up files of mrs. basil e. really-want-this-but-couldn’t-afford-it-in-a-million-years, i give you this gorgeous wooden bathtub collection from swiss yacht building company laguna. these designers are all about ergonomics and the finest craftsmanship. their wood veneer selection, which includes mahogany, wenge and walnut, is chosen from designated forests that have controlled felling and reforestation. layers upon layers of veneer are high pressure pressed together and covered with resin, then finished with a special varnish able to withstand extreme conditions. currently, there’s the freestanding pearl, the spa (which has an oversized edge filled with pebbles for integrated overflow) or the rectangular basic.
