i am still feeling officially festive so please enjoy some fun glitter paintings and jewels from swedish artist tina for her galleri sindahl. her mixed media pieces are made of acrylic paint and glass glitter. many have metallic details too.

i am enjoying her different combinations of colors, gems, and materials in her unique line.
check out the jewelry here, and the paintings there. there’s also a bead shop!

so i was minding my own business clicking through on a comment someone left here last week, and i made quite a serendipitous discovery - the beautiful world of portland artist catherine chandler! catherine makes the loveliest organic jewelry and objets from copper, sterling silver, titanium and semi precious stones. she engaged herself in many different types of artistry before she found her true medium, metal. since she is inspired by plant life, catherine created a series of rings that pay homage to a variety of endangered plants in a place where she studied her craft, australia. each piece’s vivid color represents the plant it is named after.

i love how her work is so elegant and spare, and how you can see the beautiful handmade quality throughout the whole well-designed collection.
look at her other creations at her etsy shop here, and be sure to see her blog too - it’s a great read!

i’m almost 100% certain that i don’t need to mention that netherlands born (and malaysian based) graphic designer irene hoofs of bloesem blog fame has impeccable taste (impeccable). she consistently showcases the work of very talented artists and crafters from around the world, and has a great eye for style and quality. knowing this, can you imagine what her first jewelry collection might look like? maybe something tactile and textured with simply striking style? well, see for yourself. this is irene’s first jewelry collection for her bloesem etsy shop. it consists of twenty necklaces which incorporate a rose quartz bead, and is called the pink collection.

i think the more subtle the design, the bigger the impact. i also like the natural tones and organic energy of the collection. and i like that necklace number three (last photo) is a nonconformist who doesn’t proudly display the pink stone (which actually represents love and is associated with the heart chakra) like all the others, but still has a unique point of view. there’s always a maverick in the bunch.
and now she’s designing jewelry.
purchase these limited edition pieces on her etsy shop, see her graphic design portfolio on her website, and don’t forget to visit her blog too!
