seattle-based designer sophie gardner dazzles with her richly simple jewelry collection, drawing her influences from ancient and modern civilizations and the beautiful patterned details of life in europe, india, and beyond. she also creates a feeling of drama using our bare skin as a negative space element.

see more from sophie on her website, and find select pieces over at auto.

two new fun collections from the german design team of otto von quast: 24 karat pets, made from discarded toys on silk cording, and the skinny icon collection, double-sided perforated leather with silver or 24k gold plated “embroidery” chain.

clever!

i’m just like the next guy. i’m all for strands of purple gemstones that are delicately connected with 18k rose gold links, which have teeny kick-ass, hand-carved coral skulls hanging from them, like this one from german designer erich zimmermann, but does it really need to cost $8900? really?

it’s cool, and scary in more than one way.
you can find it at moss, and if you buy it will you please send me a photo of you wearing it? and you bank account number? thanks.

reader saraM pointed me in the direction of the gorgeous organic stylings of uk ceramicist claire palastanga. the delicate porcelain forms are finely finished, and enhanced with the contrasting addition of silver of gold leaf details. claire is inspired by nature and has long been fascinated by spikey forms with sensitive centers, such as the fruit from the horse chestnut tree.

see more of claire’s beautiful collection and contact her right here.

love this elegantly feminine and graphic necklace collection from japanese born, new york-based ema takahashi. it’s made of hand hammered 10k rose gold.

i like that if you look at these slightly off center some of the designs just look like loopy abstract script, and the words are revealed upon closer inspection.
purchase these pieces here, and see ema’s full collection on her website.
