this camilla wood burning stove from italy’s palazzetti has hooked me for a few reasons: it’s self cleaning, is vivdly colored and most importantly reminds me of a jukebox. i imagine roasting root veggies or puffing up a frittata in the curved top portion of this stove — how cool!

n.b. this is a week long series on methods of transport and how we feel about them, created by a dear friend.
my husband does not want me to get a vespa because he is convinced i will crash it - although for the record i am an excellent driver and can give you references if you need them. it’s the other drivers we worry about. anyway, i have a friend who has a green one and she told me once that her scooter was the only freeing thing she had in her life. that kind of freaked me out, but i can understand where she’s coming from. the wind in your hair and that giddy feeling of joy, when there’s no one around, no sound except for you (and truly no sound if you’re on a bicycle!), no obligations to complete and no place to be. just you and the road. how depressing is it when the ride comes to an end?
i suppose you don’t need to worry about it when your bike is on your cutting board, or your stationery.

acacia wood cutting board from german designers olze and wilkens, and letterpress greeting cards from new york’s sesame letterpress, both available at elsewares.

i saw these glass tools and accessories on kim’s blog and had to share. they are handcrafted by canadian artist annie michaud for her company gogo glass, at her atelier in old montreal. to me, these look more like miniature sculptures than utilitarian items that sit in a drawer!

i love the lively color palette and how each piece has unique surface characteristics, a key benefit in handmade goods.
i think i like the lime green citrus reamer best (it looks like a stalk of asparagus to me), although i love her vases and paperweights too. hmmm…
for more info and products, see annie’s website.

if i ever figure out how and when to remodel our cottage in michigan, i would strongly consider putting this simply fabulous kitchen table in it from schulte design of germany. this substantial wooden table isn’t just for dining — it also has an integrated built-in metal cook surface, cutlery drawers and large storage area underneath. a cantilever styled edge allows for an intimately combined cooking and dining experience.

the integrated main outlets will keep the tabletop clear of criss-crossing cords (cool!). the table and companion sideboard are available in a variety of woods, including the walnut pictured here. for a most complete picture, add one of their gorgeous leather benches they show with it too!
