ooh! i love the curve and the cleanliness of this chrome-finished sculpture - i mean, faucet, er, led lamp. you simply touch the base to turn it on and off. i am totally picturing this on my huge gorgeous ebony wood desk with beautiful turned legs, that’s completely cleared off except for an imac with hidden cords and a vase of fresh white peonies (NOT!)…

form and function. that’s the stuff.
$85 at uncommon goods.

loving these beautiful glass lamps and hanging fixtures from uk designer jo vincent. jo, who made and designed glass in italy and london, prior to opening her own studio, does custom work as well as select “ready to buy” collection, which includes this embrace chandelier. it’s made of 106 individually cast glass blades which are lit by a central core of led lights. it can be set as to one particular color or softly roll through the spectrum, thanks to the handy control panel. it’s about 600 mm x 1000 mm (23″ x 39″) long.

i also like the swell table lamp and the half pipe wall sconce (which can be hung vertically or horizontally).

jo’s studio is located on the edge of the lake district in kendal, and she uses a variety of methods to create these fantastic works. the embrace requires an eight week lead time, but the smaller pieces can be completed in two weeks.
see jo’s website to purchase and view the rest of her gorgeous lighting and home pieces.

look at this kick a$$ lamp from benoit collette and david wykes for industrial design firm teague out of seattle. with a client roster like microsoft, panasonic and boeing, you might think they don’t have the time to do small jobs, but this lamp is an excellent exception. it starts out flat and like a cat stretches its sinewy form into a led studded task lamp.

apparently, teague is currently seeking a manufacturing partner to produce this elegant and minimal lamp. after looking at these photos, don’t you think they’ll find one soon?

look! up on the wall! it’s a poster! it’s a trompe l’oeil! it has a, plug? it’s a… lamp??
well, yes.

london-based irish artist finn magee has created this fantastic flat life series of common household items. here’s the amazing part: these items on posters are embedded with led lights and become illuminated when they are plugged into a socket!
what a wonderful surreal, original, innovative, imaginative thing to see hanging on your wall everyday. it doesn’t look like these are in production right now but hopefully they will be made available soon!
