please enjoy these gorrrrrrrgeous mobiles from portland’s spin designs. these pieces are made from laser cut museum mat board, taken from original illustrations.

hang one in a dark corner with one of those inexpensive floor uplights from the depot and i bet you’ll see some fabulous shadows.
you need to go look at their etsy shop and website to see more cool stuff, including their awesome jewelry. seriously.

i like most everything that uk artist lupin makes, but i think these birds and mobiles are super sweet. i’m really responding to her well executed color combinations, especially now, since we slowly but surely will become devoid of them with the change of the seasons…

i have had a fantasy (okay, so i daydream a bit) for a while about having a holiday tabletop tree and only placing bird ornaments on it, so these things are making me go slightly nutty. ooh! if i got a funky modern metal tree i could keep this up year round…
anyway, i digress. take a peek into her etsy shop to see her broad and lovely selection, and be sure to see her great blog too (where she uses great words like “chuffed” and “witter”)!

ah, for a seafaring life in scandinavia… well, maybe not. but these danish mobiles might help you visualize it.

flensted mobiles is a small, multi-generational family company that’s been making modern mobiles since 1954. hopefully they will make them for another 50 years.
for more about the company, click here.
snatch ‘em up at design public.
