just as soon as that snow melts, i am going to go outside and emulate this awesome planter by the witty swiss designer stefan stauffacher for eternit (and their us distributor greenform). it’s made of a combination of cement, limestone, fiber and water (called fiber cement), which is a durable, 100% recycled material.

contact greenform for pricing and availability.

if the landlord won’t give you access to plant a green roof, you could still achieve it in miniature with this wee (about 4″ x 5″ x 5″) mansion planter from japan’s nobuhiro sato for his pull + push company. it’s solidly made of mortar, glass and brass. nobuhiro seeks to incorporate architectural details into his home accessory products, so i urge you to find joy in the architectural details like the chunky stairs and the window railings!

you know you’d probably get a lot of great light in the place if those windows face south…
p.s. i like his ashtray (not that i’m advocating) and incense burner too!

find them all at mollaspace.

modern chia pet alert: this little i grobot planter is only a wee 4″ tall and 2.5″ wide, but it packs every inch of itself with fun, in the form of grass seeds that you can water, grow, and cut. the packaging has cute drawings too.

i might keep this as a spare button dish if i wasn’t growing grass in there (that does not sound right).

look at this luminous planter from giuseppe colonna romano for slide design.

it’s double walled to keep the water separate, and you can change the mood of the space just by installing the colored bulb of your choice. you can use it indoors and out.

giuseppe used his prior experience in the plastic molding industry to create slide design, which features robust sculptural accessories for the home.

giuseppe believes that light changes emotions and sharpens senses, and tries to incorporate light sources in most of his products.

visually stunning.
