i so enjoy postcards and frequently consider them little works of art worthy of framing and hanging on walls. if you do too then check this out: andrea over at the most excellent hula seventy is holding her 2nd annual postcard swap. i am so tempted to participate in this — what fun! basically it works like the ornament swap: leave a comment here by june 15th to get on the list. when all the names are collected you will receive an email with instructions and the names and addresses of your swappees. then, create your cards and send them off, and sit back and enjoy the summer while your group sends you their cards in return!

looking through the postcard section in resale shops is one of me and my husband’s favorite pastimes. we peep at the penmanship and wonder what state of mind the senders were in when they sent their correspondence, as well as the receivers. that is part of the reason why i am drawn to this small scale mixed media art from etsy seller lisaur, made from recycled postcards and collaged on the written sides.

the rich color combinations only serve as a compliment to the mysterious torn stories told on their papers.
