let’s have a look at some of the terrific designs from norway’s permafrost design studio. i like the retro freshness and playfulness of the whole collection, which to me looks sturdy and substantial as well.

i am especially enjoying the fun and aptly named john deere and silence rugs.
see much more on the permafrost website, and find the rugs at generate.

yeh, i know philippe said a few very negative things about being a designer just recently, but i am willing to turn a deaf ear to it when i look at this monseigneur sofa he has made for driade.

very glamorous design from a guy who said that design is a dreadful form of expression, don’t you think?
find the collection here.

i LOVE this pretty and perfect air hazel settee as well as the fire cyrilla banquette by PURE. the company claims that this is green design, by using sustainable materials, working with local craftspeople and participating in fair trade with their international sourcing. sounds reasonable to me.

did i mention that i love these? the color, the embroidery, the elegant retro modern lines?
they’re $4418 and $4017 respectively, are available in nine luscious colors and with or without embroidery, and right here at structured green along with some other very cool furniture.

(i’m not complaining but) this bed has been all over cyberspace now — and i’m writing about it anyway, because it is too cool. behold the scoop bed from by guido rosati for saba italia. it’s a bed and a sofa, a very handy design if living in smallish dwellings where space is limited. they make a delicious square version too, if you must be linear.

it’s too bad we don’t have availability in the states, because that square one looks like a big fluffy sleepy swimming pool to me. that i would like to go swimming in.
i must say that i haven’t seen anything this swinging since larry gordon’s photo of hef’s bed (not that i’ve seen it in person!).

check out this smoothly organic polar collection of furniture, from british designers luke pearson and tom lloyd. their goal was to create simple, timeless shapes that appear like fragments of icebergs rising up from the floor.

the sofa has a wood frame, and can be reconfigured to create six different seating arrangements. the trio of tables are plywood wrapped in leather, and the single table is wood and glass. the stool/side table is made from polypropelene.
all pieces are manufactured by tacchini.
way too cool.
more of pearson and lloyd’s slick work here.
