i think i need this puffy cloud chair by lisa widén for opportunistic cat naps. i love the sculpted sides and funky metal feet.

i haven’t been able to sleep for several weeks now, and despite this the blog is still running pretty smoothly. maybe it is more efficient than usual because i am a shut in, rehabbing my dog, who is almost able to stand up and walk by himself, and not able to leave my house because of it?
i don’t know, but i’m thinking if this came with a cumulus ottoman i would be all set.
see more work from lisa on her website and find the chair at design house stockholm.

perhaps you know swedish artist thomas broomé for his low res man sculpture, but i also love what clever pieces he has created here in his modern mantra collection. he is using a liberal amount of the alphabet to create texture, depth and positive/negative space in his clean lined drawings, and takes us on a very funky house tour at the same time.

i love the walk-in closet.
thomas is represented by the galleri magnus karlsson in stockholm. you can see lots more intriguing artwork in a variety of media from thomas on his website too.

i love love love these cool flatpack dollhouses from swedish company our children’s gorilla. they’re made of recyclable cardboard and mdf, and are printed on three sides with old-timey architectural graphics.

the insides of the houses are a blank canvas, so the only limits to the interiors of the rooms is your imagination. fun!
choose firehouse or brownstone for $74 each and see other imaginative things right here.

there are all kinds of freestanding fireplaces floating around the blogosphere, but i especially like this rotund one designed by markus grip for swedish maker vauni. it’s about 24″h x 24″w x 24″d and uses clean burning ethanol. it swivels too, so you can have a lovely view of it from anywhere in the room. just fill the tank up, use the integrated control to adjust the flame levels to your taste and enjoy a cozy, ash and soot-free evening.

it reminds me of the smooth orbs of planets revolving around each other on a mobile a saw once as a child.
sadly, the globe is not in my budget: it costs over six grand. but isn’t it fabulous?
if i had the dough, i’d purchase a pair at personal interior design and float ‘em on my yacht.

i am still feeling officially festive so please enjoy some fun glitter paintings and jewels from swedish artist tina for her galleri sindahl. her mixed media pieces are made of acrylic paint and glass glitter. many have metallic details too.

i am enjoying her different combinations of colors, gems, and materials in her unique line.
check out the jewelry here, and the paintings there. there’s also a bead shop!

i have mentioned before that i love furniture that leaves no footprint, which is why this gladsax solid oak nightstand would be perfect for me. it’s manufactured by swedish company hildurs hus, and measures 48 cm h x 32 cm w x 28 cm l (about 19″ h x 12 1/2″ w x 11″ l).

to me this is quintessential scandinavian design, thoughtful, sturdy and clean.
purchase a pair for $435.15 at the scandinavian design center.

i am loving this stark and funky table lamp from scottish designer david taylor. it’s made of metal and has a perfectly designed taper in which to cradle a single light bulb.

after leaving his homeland to see the world, david studied metal design in sweden, and decided to stay there after graduating from konstfack. he likes to express his humor and playfulness through his striking, surprising designs.
more info for david here.
purchase it at personal interior design.

so i was staring at my feet today at the strange tan lines i got after playing golf. they look like little oval leaves, which made me think of the fabulous scandinavian designer lotta jansdotter.
i love everything she makes. her organic designs are simple and clean, and she uses high quality textiles and other materials to craft her products. it’s the next best thing to being amongst the flora, if you have to stay inside.
she has a pretty broad line which includes some tee shirts and stationery, so you can show the world how hip you are if you don’t want to keep it to yourself.
you can shop on her website, or buy it in chicago at the sweden shop on foster.
