new veneers and blocks by michele bosak
you might remember i am a big fan of michele bosak. i really like these new pieces from her, keeping within her softly dreamy, vintage-styled theme. the blocks are made of solid wood and the veneer pieces of oak. each image is a xerox transferred by hand.
see more at michele’s website and purchase these pieces at her etsy shop. if you are in the grand rapids area, you can check out some of her original work in person at noir (who doesn’t have a website up) right now, and coming up in seattle at the suite 100 gallery starting february 13th, 2009.

cat house by leo kempf
I am all about functional contemporary cat houses so check this one out from Arkansas designer Leo Kempf. There’s a little cat flap on the side to get in. A ramp extends up to the second floor, where a sheepskin rug, plexiglass picture window and (what looks like) some mini oil portraits on the walls await. There’s also a little cardboard in front to release a demonic urge to scratch, if your cat has that unusual type of problem.
Very cool.
See more of it and other design on Leo’s website.

artistry in wood by palo samko
I think I like the beautiful photography of Brooklyn designer Palo Samko’s wood lighting, sculpture and furniture as much as the magnificent collection itself. Everything is so minimally clean, yet rich and substantial.
Yep, I like it all.
See more gorgeousness right here.

anthony pack found object sculpture
I love tips, and once again my friends Burt and Nancy are coming through with them, thanks to their keen eye for high quality work, quirky and awesome style and grand sense of humor. I am totally benefiting from the fact that they share what they see when they sell their beautiful ceramics at art fairs around the country with me. When they were in Peoria last month they happened across the fun work of Anthony Pack. Anthony uses found objects, woodworking skills and his imagination to create this collection of wall pieces and sculpture that are filled to the brim with personality.
See more charming fun from Anthony and contact him on his Flickr stream.
Thanks so much for the tip and the awesome photos Burt!
elegant furniture from turkey’s autoban
I love how substantial this beautiful wood furniture collection is from Seyhan Özdemir and Sefer ÇaÄŸlar for Istanbul’s Autoban Design. I especially like their Starfish table. It’s mid-century hip and modern-day organic, taking inspiration from the gentle sea creature that is its namesake.
Â
Â
It isn’t inexpensive, but if you want furniture that will keep in your home for years and years, it’s worth it.
You can find the table at RAY20, and you can see more design excellence at the Autoban website.
